Hello Parents,
There are a few assignments due in the month of October. Please don't forget these important dates: Friday, October 2: Classroom prayer exam Tuesday, October 13: Family History Culture Project due Friday, October 23: Cereal Book Report Project due Moreover, a few things to keep in mind as students are completing their homework at home. Questions should be answered in a complete sentence. All sentences must begin with a capital letter, punctuation mark, have a subject and predicate. These are skills we have learned in first grade and are continuing to learn in second grade. Please reinforce neatness at home as well. Messy handwriting will require students to redo their work during their snack/lunch time. As always, I appreciate your support! Mrs. An
Students will be expected to complete 3 homework assignments daily. They are as follows:
1. Reading Access the reading book on website tab "Homework resources". Your child's agenda (if they followed my instructions correctly) should have the story's title written. After reading the story students are expected to answer the 3 questions in a complete sentence and Making Connection should be written on the back side of the paper. 2. Spelling Students choose one spelling activity to complete nightly. They complete their spelling assignment inside their spelling homework notebook. 3. Math Students will have brought home their math workbook. Each lesson is front and back (reteaching & practice). After students finish their work, please tear it and have them place inside their home binder so they can bring it to school tomorrow. The workbook should be kept at home. Parents will know which lesson their child should be completing because if they followed instructions they would have it written in their agenda. See you all tomorrow for Back to School Night! Yay, we did it! We made it through the first day of second grade! It was a pleasure meeting all the parents and especially the sweet children I feel so lucky and proud to spend the entire year with. A few reminders:
-Please check your children's binder (green binder labeled "Home binder"). This binder is meant to go back and forth from school to home. Today, your child will be brining home with them 1) earthquake bag 2) homework packet due Friday 3) Parent packet due Friday (return only the papers that need to be returned to school and keep the rest at home for reference 4) Picture day form - Also, some students did not have the correct supplies as noted on the supply list. This made it very difficult to organize their binders today. There are to be a total of 4 white binders in half an inch size with plastic sleeves on the exterior. Also, there is to be a plastic folder with 3 holes to place inside ONE of the binders. I specify PLASTIC because these folders have a tendency to tear as the year progresses. Furthermore, there were to be 2 sets of 5 tab dividers labeled in the following order: Set 1: Math, English, Reading, Religion, Science/History Set 2: Prewriting, Drafting, Revising, Editing, Publishing Composition notebooks are to labeled as follows: 1) Writing journal (2) Math (3) Language Arts (4) Spelling Homework (5) Spanish Please ask your child if they are one of the children who had missing or incomplete labels. Please make sure the correct items are purchased. Students with incorrect labels will be asked to take their notebooks back home and parents are expected correctly label them. Parental support in getting the year started right is very much valued. Thank you! This week students will be dismissed at 12:00pm. Despite noon dismissal, students will have P.E. class on Thursday. Please make sure to send your child to school in their P.E.. uniform. Also, we will not have mass this Friday. Our first mass as a school will be next Friday, September 11, 2015. Please make sure to send your child to school in their appropriate mass attire.
